Most weary seem’d the sea, weary the oar,
Weary the wandering fields of barren foam.
Then some one said, “We will return no more;”
And all at once they sang, “Our island home
Is far beyond the wave; we will no longer roam.”

Jack Torrance
Jack from Stephen King's novel "The shining."
I tried to go with a slightly more subtle approach with this image rather than the (what I felt to be) hit you-over-the-head bluntness of the hallway peice . Jack is eventually driven mad by his own demons as well as those in the hotel, so the items on the desk are supposed to allude to the skeletons in his closet and foreshadow the events which take place later in the novel.
I tried to make his face appear haggard and defeated despite his relatively young age.
